Saturday April 4, 2020 D is for Dipper

2020 A to Z Challenge!
D is for the American Dipper!

A chunky bird of western streams, the American Dipper is North America's only truly aquatic songbird. It catches all of its food underwater in swiftly flowing streams by swimming and walking on the stream bottom.
Here's a video of a juvenile fishing!

Have a lovely day!
FYI ...I have some sort of problem being
able to leave comments for all sites I
visit. I asked the folks at google for
help, but unfortunately the problem still
exists when I visits some folks. So if
I haven't left you a comment it's not you-
it's me and my blog having issues.
Sorry sorry!

  1. This is a fascinating bird. Thanks for sharing. It seems there isn't much help in blog world. Unless we try to help each other. Thanks for stopping by and I saw your comment. Be safe and healthy and take care.

  2. That's lovely! I dont know much about birds and this seems like a good place to start!! :-)

  3. So much different than the Kingfisher! Great camouflage to stay discrete ;)
    D is for Denim

  4. A chunky little chap! It's amazing it doesn't get swept away but that rapidly flowing water.

    D is for...!

  5. From Toffee the Cat: Lovely picture! Although I'm not fond of birds - they flutter, twitter and chirp too much for my liking. Little twerps. My old woman says she has trouble on some sites too and has noticed they seem to be Wordpress sites. She wondered if Blogger and Wordpress aren't always compatible. She was also a bit frustrated (a regular state of affairs - she is very old) by sites where she couldn't find anywhere to comment at all.
    Not So Sweet Toffee

    That's Purrfect

  6. I remember seeing them while out fishing with my father in Northern California. We call them water ouzels, which is such a funny name! I didn't realize they were song birds.

  7. That's truly interesting. I would never expect a bird like that to be aquatic.

  8. I have been having a terrible time leaving comments this year, as well... although interestingly yours seems to be one that works for me.
    Love the dipper! =)
